Early Childhood Education

How we created an impact and influence in the digital space

Industry

In Malaysia, the field of Early Childhood Education (ECE) is at a relatively infancy stage. The rate of progress is basic at best, and the gaps within the industry are jarring as they steadily widen.

The same is observed of Special Education (SE), where the progress may not be evenly matched with the efforts to make Special Education accessible and inclusive to those who are afflicted. As much as many of the concepts are still on paper, those which have found their way into operation, still see cracks within their implementation.

The task entailed widening the influence of the brand within its audience segments to drive leads. To achieve this over the digital platforms, we needed to effectively showcase the brand’s two biggest competitive factors – its comprehensive academic programmes and remarkable teaching methodology.

Approach

Content for a digital edge

01

The PR Strategy

The content creation took a cue from the institution’s sales cycle. The strategy was to create narratives that were diverse and dynamic, capturing the voice of the brand through a a winning combination of content, visuals and creative insights.

02

The Content Direction

SEO was a prime factor. It sets the basis for a content plan that needed to transcend the institution’s website and extend into ALL its social media platforms. EIGHT categories pertinent to the institution’s brand were created and narratives corresponding to these categories were crafted and rolled out vis-à-vis a detailed implementation plan.

03

Research & Benchmarking

Capturing the competitiveness of the brand was key and this was achieved through a consistent and continuous research and benchmarking process that aligned narratives to national and global ECE perspectives and aspirations. The created content showcased how the institution’s brand of education met Malaysian and international standards, a commitment strengthened by leadership advocacy that contributed to advancing the ECE sector.

Thought Leadership Series

Chairman, CE and Academicians

#Advocacy is crucial to further intent for change. The leadership in early childhood education (ECE) is deeply invested in progressing the ECE landscape. They represent the voices for those below six, who we have great potential but depend greatly on those around them to uncover their possibilities.

With conversations and discourse, we help leaders bring forth their ideas through engaging content that resonate their persona and vision. These insights garner the attention of the media, who see the uniqueness of the angles and the steadfastness of those who commit to these aspirations.

Key Conversations

Speaking to the leaders was a monthly commitment.

Underscoring various topics gleaned from our regular conversations with the leadership, we created possible angles for review. The Chairman of DIKA College, Dr Sim Quan Seng shared many insights. His story represents many other stories, and it is Dika’s story too, born out of the only constant – change.

Driving Trends

The institution is a pioneer in early childhood education (ECE) and special education (SE) in Malaysia and has made considerable strides to equip the sector with educators who are well-versed with national and international ECE standards. To position the brand as a leader in the industry, we collaborated with the institution’s academicians, partners and captains of the industry to highlight trends and shifts within the sector.

Early Childhood Education: Trends and Educator Roles

Student Profiling Series

The Best of Each Other

These stories leverage the passion that early childhood (ECE) educators have for their charges, the children under their care, and the resulting mutual relationships that bring out the best of each other.

Through interviews with aspiring ECE individuals and complemented by research, we create content that exemplify the work of ECE educators and how it is instrumental to a child’s future, always written in a form that captures the individual’s persona and personality.

The Alumni Series

Hearts for Our Young

The DIKA alumni are by far the biggest inspiration. We spent a great deal of effort working out questions that would capture their colourful and spirited personalities. We walked away from each interview awestruck. These are educators, some just in their early 20s, dedicating their lives to the education of young children, reaching out to rural communities and crossing borders to make a difference. Their stories are humbling and utterly inspiring. These are the stories of ECE’s truest advocates.

Emotion, Connection & Appreciation

Content can and must be shared across platforms. When we write, we bear this in mind so that connecting with an audience is always a goal. These reels capture the passion and emotions of early childhood education (ECE) professionals, highlighting them at work and showcasing the beauty of this noble profession’s outcomes.

The Impact

A long-term goal

We set a strategy that was aligned with the institution’s KPIs.

In the beginning it was a difficult to secure the quarterly numbers. We managed to shift the brand’s social impact through working closely with the Marketing Head, creating an increase in lead generation and enquiries.

The institution continued to chart good numbers during and through the COVID period, recording one of the highest student recruitment numbers among ECE institutions for that period.

These ROIs were made possible through consistent collaboration with the CE and team, an alignment to the DIKA vision and a strong commitment to the CayD deliverables.
